As is often the case, there’s something special about the new year.
January always seems to have an air of excitement, much like the start of a new book or Netflix series. The possibilites are practically endless since nobody knows how it will play out over twelve months. Let’s just hope that this one plays out more like Culinary Class Wars than Squid Games 2. (Yes, we’re as obsessed with Korean TV shows as we are with Korean noodles.)
We haven’t done much yet but things are about to pick up with our upcoming trip to the states. Our next two weeks will be full on with our three favorite f’s - food, friends and family. There’s no doubt that the trip will be a cross country whirlwind filled with burgers, pizza and bagels. Here’s hoping that Mother Nature stops all those pesky fires and snow storms. Seriously, please be safe if you’re in Los Angeles!
If you’re thinking that we haven’t been home that long, you are correct. It’s just been two weeks since we were in London. That trip was a whirlwind too. While we were primarily there to celebrate the holiday with our friend Amanda, we managed to sneak in a few bites and sites. These were the highlights:
Excellent Sunday roast at Harwood Arms, London’s only Michelin-starred pub and a darn good restaurant
Neapolitan pizza at Napoli on the Road, London’s top 10 entry in the 50 Top Pizza listicle
Fish and Chips at Fishoria, a mediocre chippy, with our friend Daniel
Over the top Christmas light displays in central London
Impressionist art at the Courtauld Gallery
Delicious Christmas lunch cooked by Daryl and hosted by the lovely Amanda
Crisp Boxing Day walk in and around Shepherd’s Bush
Back to the new year. We’re excited to see where it will take us. One of us has a ‘big’ birthday so it only makes sense to plan a big' trip. Asia has been calling us back for a while so that could happen. We’ve also been talking to a friend about planning a trip to Sicily so that could happen too. And there’s so much more of Portugal that we want/need to explore. That will definitely happen.
So, yeah, 2025. Bring it!
Dish of the Week - Fettuccine Alfredo
Winter is the best season for fettuccine, the ultimate comfort food whether or not your travel plans include Rome. (Yes, depsite its reputation, the dish does indeed have roots in Rome.)
Our easy fettuccine Alfredo recipe brings the authentic, luxurious pasta to your home kitchen. You just need a handful of ingredients like butter and parmesan cheese to make this classic Roman pasta in less than 30 minutes.
Drink of the Week - Orange Creamsicle Cocktail
It may be cold outside but that doesn’t mean that frozen treats like creamsicles are out of the question. We created a liquid version that combines orange juice with low fat milk, Cointreau and white chocolate liqueur to create a tasty treat that’s for adults only.
